The Kat Eyz has a 1/4" screw which makes it quicker to spin up AND limits the amount of pressure immediately applied. I do make and offer a 3/8" knurled thumbscrew but it does bring with it a little caution …Well, my Kat Eyz arrived! What a lovely little unit! I'm using a kat-eyz brass capo with some real soft surgical latex tubing and I'm having the problem of strings moving under the capo when bending the strings a whole step. I know capos have been discussed quite a bit here, but I'm really looking for info on this particular topic.

I have one for my D18 in stainless steel. They're about $100 but I think they're as nice as the Elliott Mckinney. The owner is very nice too. Each capo is custom made for your guitar.I use a 1993 McKinney/Tony Rice (predecessor to the Elliott) and a smaller profile Kat Eyz most of the time. They keep the strings in tune, are wonderful handcrafted mechanical machines, and look marvelous - I like the low-profile. But I always carry my old trustworthy standard Shubb around just in case - can't beat 'em for the money.
