It has a godly moveset (that runnng r1) great dex scalling, good range, and the weapon art is realy good along with the bleeding effect. It's moveset is excellent, longish reach, high base dmg/scaling for Dex builds, has bleed AND can be resin buffed, and has an excellent, super adaptable battle art.

I’ve got the uchigatana upgraded to +5, since that is what I’ve read to do. But after that chaos, fire, raw damage etc is overwhelming and I don’t wanna do anything I’ll regret. At the moment I’m not look by for PvP, just complete the game. Depends on your stats, really. But since it is a DEX weapon I would recommend sharp infusion and leveling up DEX. It depends on your stats. If you have high Dex you should infuse it with a sharp gem, if you have high strength maybe you should be looking to use a different weapon as it wouldn't scale very well with strength.

Raw infusion removes stat scaling but increases overall damage. It's a good infusion for people who start their characters by leveling up HP/Stamina instead of STR/DEX/INT/FAI.Standard weapons (which the Uchi is) can go up to +15, but every fifth upgrade requires "ascension" by a blacksmith. To go from +5 to +6, you need to give Andre the Large Ember and then have him ascend your weapon. +10 to +11 is also done by Andre and requires another Ember.
