Jun 3, 2006 · The 038 Mag doesn't get up to the high rpm's but it also takes an awful lot to slow it down in a cut. It has real grunt torque in the cut. Just remember that there are 3 sizes of the 038, the 038 AV, the 038 Super and the 038 Magnum (Magnum II is the same size as the Magnum). The 038 Mag is a just a slight bit heavier than the 046.

Remove spark plug & take a piece of 1-1.5mm solder, poke it in the plug hole all the way to the side of the cylinder then pull the saw over a couple of times. Remove the solder & measure the squashed end with a micrometer or decent set of calipers. Repeat on the other side of the cylinder to confirm your measurement.
