Yeah I looked throught the keybind section, tried some of them, but none of them toggled the names on and off. F7 toggles UI including names. Considering you didn't mention the rest of the UI disappearing I'm not sure that's your problem, but it's worth a shot.

So the result is all the character models and content is in the original mod in the workshop folder and the game only loads the copy from the Kenshi/mods folder.
